Gilberto Ramirez (39-0, 25 KOs) scored a majority decision victory over Jesse Hart (25-2, 21 KOs) in the main event of the evening at Corpus Christi and defended his WBO super middleweight title. After twelve rounds, two judges scored it 115-113 for Ramirez, and the third saw it as a draw 114-114.

The fight from the first bell promised to be a competitive one. Ramirez was more active, but it was Hart who delivered clearer shots. In the second half of the battle it seemed that Hart had the advantage and was able to create an upset.

In the end, the judges gave the victory to Ramirez, who defended his WBO belt for the fifth time. Thus, the 27-year-old Gilberto repeated his victory over Hart last September.

Ramirez announced that he was considering the transition to the light heavyweights, and it is possible that he will continue his career in this weight category. The Mexican should return to the ring next spring.
