On October 7 at UFC 229 in Las Vegas UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov beat the former champion in two weight categories Conor MacGregor. After that, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin called Nurmagomedov. In addition to congratulations, Putin said words of support to the fighter. Zaur Kurbanov, co-author of an autobiographical book about Nurmagomedov told about this.

“Does the book describe Putin’s call? Of course. The book ends with the words: ‘I had to go home, to my homeland.’ There is about the call of the president. Putin watched the fight and said the following: “We were worried about you, we watched the fight, we are proud of you, do not give in to provocations. This is the number you can call in any situation if something goes wrong. Thumbs up! It is with great pleasure that I am waiting for you at my place.’ It was not just the support of the president, these were the words of a man who says, we can help you,” Kurbanov said.
