The famous Argentine boxer Mario Melo died a ridiculous death. 56-year-old man took part in the competition on speed eating croissants in the Argentinean city of Pinamar. Melo choked on the third croissant. Food blocked the airway and the boxer died. Other competitors tried to save Mario, but they did not succeed.
In the professional ring, Mario Melo had 30 fights in which he scored 21 victories and suffered 9 defeats. He was the champion of Argentina and South America. In 1990 Melo fought for the WBO light heavyweight title against Michael Moorer. Melo lost by knockout in the first round.
