Former heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin will hold one or two fights until he ends his sports career. This was declared by the head of the World of Boxing promotion company Andrei Ryabinsky.

“This is our joint decision. Sasha will have one or two fights and will finish his career. There can be a maximum of three fights. This year he will probably not be fighing anymore,” said Ryabinsky.

In September, Povetkin lost to Anthony Joshua by technical knockout in the seventh round and lost the opportunity to win three world champion titles. Rematch was provided under the contract only in case of Povetkin's victory.
