Sergiej Werwejko (8-2, 6 KOs) lost by technical knockout in the eighth round to Ali Eren Demirezen (10-0, 10 KOs) on a boxing evening in Hamburg. At the stake of the meeting was the WBO European heavyweight title. Thus, for the first time Demirezen defended the title he won in March in a battle with Rad Rashid.
A native of the Luhansk region, Werwejko currently lives in Warsaw, Poland, and this defeat was the second in his career. A year and a half ago, the Ukrainian lost in the fifth round to the Brazilian Marcelo Nasimento.
