Joshua stops Povetkin in the competitive battle

Andrew Karlov Sept. 22, 2018, 6:10 p.m.

In the main event of the evening at Wembley Stadium in London, Anthony Joshua (22-0, 21 KOs) scored a TKO victory in the seventh round over the former world champion Alexander Povetkin (34-2, 24 KOs) and defended his heavyweight titles. The time was 1:59.

Povetkin looked better at the beginning of the fight, he was able to visibly hurt Joshua at the end of the first round by a combination of three punches and took a few first rounds. After the first round Joshua received a nosebleed.

But with the development of the fight, Joshua began to gradually adapt to the enemy. After the fourth round, Povetkin returned to the corner with a cut over his left eye.

The dramatic outcome of the battle came in the seventh round, when Joshua managed to hurt Povetkin with the right overhand and deliver another two punches, from which the Russian fell heavily on the canvas. To the credit of Alexander, he was able to rise, but remained wobbly. Anthony rushed to finish him and the referee simultaneously with the team of the Russian stopped the meeting.
