Gassiev is off for 5-6 months because of injuries

Murat Gassiev of Russia will take from five to six months layoff for health reasons. Gassiev’s coach Abel Sanchez informed. Gassiev reached the finale in the first season of the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) in the cruiserweights, in which he lost to Alexander Usyk of Ukraine.

Earlier, Secretary General of the Russian Boxing Federation Umar Kremlev stated that Gassiev had undergone a course of recovery after a shoulder injury.

"He had injuries requiring long-term treatment, he needed to take care of this, so he will not fight for five to six months, he had operations for shoulder and nose injuries, but I hope that within a month we will meet with the team and discuss the situation," said Sanchez.

He also added that the decision of Gassiev’s transfer to the heavyweights has not yet been considered.
