In the seventh round, Alvarez managed to land the long right hand and put Kovalev on the fifth point. Sergey was able to get up, but Alvarez went on finishing him and landed left-right combo, from which the Russian hit the floor again. Kovalev was able to rise again and continue to fight, but at the end of the round, Alvarez was noted with one more accurate combination, now of three punches, and sent Kovalev to the canvas again. The referee stopped the contest at 2:45.
