Mass brawl with flying chairs and shots ended the evening of boxing in the Dominican Republic in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros. The fight started when Curtis Stevens' fight against Carlos Jairo Cruz was stopped in the fourth round. Referee Steve Smoger decided that Cruz was not able to continue the fight, which caused discontent among the spectators at the ring, who soon attacked with plastic chairs the team of Stevens and the referee himself.
Team Stevens and Smoger were forced to hide in the locker room, but the fight in the hall continued, and shots were fired. The authorities came on the scene and calmed fighting people with gas.
