The leadership of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) held a meeting in its headquarters in Springfield, New Jersey, regarding the situation with the mandatory defense of world middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin against Sergiy Derevyanchenko. The IBF is to decide whether Golovkin is obligated to meet Derevyanchenko or will be stripped of his title.

The meeting, which lasted four and a half hours, was attended by both boxers, as well as representatives of their teams: Abel Sanchez, Gennady’s coach, Tom Leffler, his promoter, and representatives Pat English and Ron DiNicola. Derevyanchenko was represented by promoter Lou DiBella, manager Keith Connolly and attorney Alex Dombroff.

The decision on this issue should be taken by the IBF next week.
