President of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Mauricio Sulaiman said that the Mexican Saul Alvarez was expelled from the WBC rankings. The reason for the exception was the refusal of the athlete to pass the tests for banned drugs, which are conducted by doping officers of the World Anti-Doping Association (WADA).
According to Suleiman, Alvarez will be re-included in the rating after he signs the consent for the delivery of samples. The Mexican can fight, but he will have to agree with the requirements of the WBC and interact with WADA.
Alvarez was suspended from battles due to two positive doping tests on clenbuterol. Disqualification of the athlete will expire in mid-August.
