Gastelum defeats Souza in a spectacular battle

American middleweight Kelvin Gastelum managed to emerge victorious from a tense battle with the experienced Brazilian Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza at the UFC 224 tournament in Rio de Janeiro.

In the first round, Jacare was able to transfer the fight to the ground with great efforts, where he controlled the opponent, twice trying to conduct a painful reception. The second five-minute session was completely in the stance and was behind Gastelum, who even managed to send his counterpart down. The final segment of the battle was very close - Gastelum acted sharper, and tired Jacare competently worked on counterattacks and recorded on his account two successful takedowns.

A split decision of the judges brought the victory to Kelvin Gastelum (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).
