Mir: Emelianenko hurt my ego

Fedor Emelianenko - Frank Mir

American MMA fighter Frank Mir commented on his defeat to Fedor Emelianenko in the quarter final of the Grand Prix Bellator in the heavyweight division.

"I lost my composure, allowing my ego to own the course of my actions. Usually I have good control over my emotions and do not allow this, but when Fedor made a high-quality cast, my ego was hurt. When we got up in the stance, I already went into street jacket mode. I started throwing out the endpoints with my left hand instead of being composed and acting prudently. I let the emotions take over me.

"This throw did not inflict any damage to me. If I were on my feet at the time, I could win, because at the beginning of the fight I managed to knock him down," said Mir.

In addition, the fighter shared his nearest career plans:

"Bellator offers me a fight in October, and before that I would like to perform at the ACB. If I stay active, then I'll gain good conditions faster. You can train as much as you want, but you cannot put them next to a real fight. Over the past two years, I spent only 50 seconds in the cage," said Mir.
