For the time being, interim UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson commented on the words of the head of the organization, Dana White, that he would be stripped of his title because of the cancellation of the fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov. The American tore the cruciate ligament six days before the battle.

"I have not yet spoken with the leadership about further plans, but I was shocked when I saw Dana White's interview. UFC did not tell me that they could strip me of the title, I did not even think that this could happen. You can not strip a title from a champion when he is injured during a compulsory communication with the media.
