Bivol stops Barrera in the 12th round

The world light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol (13-0, 11 KOs) scored a TKO victory in the final, twelfth round, over the Cuban Sullivan Barrera (21-2, 14 KOs) on the undercard of the boxing evening at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Bivol dominated the course of the battle, despite the cut near his right eye, which he received in the second round. By the middle of the fight, Barrera's face was also covered with cuts and hematomas, but the Cuban was able to level the duel a little.

In the 12th round Bivol managed to land right hand, from which Barrera felt heavily on the floor. He was able to get up, but was shaky on his feet and the referee Harvey Doc stopped the fight at 1:41.

"In the 12th round, I realized that I could knock him out, so I went for it. Barrera showed that I still have work to do," Bivol said after the battle.
