In the main event of the evening in his native Sheffield, former welterweight champion Kell Brook (37-2, 26 KOs) scored a KO victory in the second round over Sergey Rabchenko (29-3, 22 KOs). Brook managed to land the precise right uppercut exactly on the jaw, which remarkably wobbled Rabchenko, but he was able to stay on his feet. In the very next exchange, Brook landed to this right hook to the temple, from which Rabchenko dropped on the floor. Sergey was climbin too hard for the referee to allow the fight to continue. The time was 1:27.
For Brook, it was the first fight in the new weight category, the light middleweight division. Eddie Hearn, Brook's promoter, said that his fighter would definitely become a world champion in two weight classes, and that his next fight is scheduled for June. According to Hearn, Brook will also attend the next fight of Amir Khan on April 21, and he plans to organize their meeting in the future.
