Romero: UFC notified me that I am the next contender

Cuban UFC middleweight veteran Yoel Romero on the air of The MMA Hour confirmed that he will fight the champion Robert Whittaker.

"I do not know when our fight will take place, probably in July. I heard that Robert is sick and does not feel well. I pray for him. I am waiting for him.

"Thank God, my leg is fine now. If our fight takes place in Miami, then it will be just awesome. This city is very large, the locals will be very happy. I'm looking forward to it," Romero said.

On February 10 Romero knocked out Luke Rockhold, but did not become the owner of a interim title, because before the fight he failed to make weight. Nevertheless UFC president Dana White did not criticize the Cuban, noting that he took the fight on a short notice.
