UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway got injured and will not be able to fight against Frankie Edgar at UFC 222 tournament scheduled for March 3 in Las Vegas. At the moment, the promotion is trying to organize a new major event.

According to MMA Fighting, Holloway injured his leg during training, which led to the withdrawal from the fight.

This was the second time in the last few months, when the planned fight between Holloway and Edgar has to be canceled. The fighters were to meet at UFC 218 in December, but Edgar suffered an orbital bone injury during the training camp. Instead, Holloway held a title defence with former champion Jose Aldo and won a technical knockout in the third round.

In the main event of UFC 222 heavyweight Stefan Struve will meet Andrei Orlovsky.
