Garcia promises battle with Linares in the summer

World lightweight champion Mikey Garcia claims that this summer he will fight against Jorge Linares at 135 pound. Over the past three months, Garcia and Linares have repeatedly called each other for a unification bout.

Mikey Garcia and promoters from the Golden Boy Promotions decided to postpone the meeting "for several months", and although Garcia and Linares have already planned their next fights for the next five weeks, Mikey hopes that this mega-fight will take place in the summer.

"I went over and sat down with Golden Boy and Eric Gomez and discussed the possibility of that fight for January 20th or 27th, but Eric also suggested it should be on a different date," Garcia told Sky Sports.
