Former world boxing champion and Olympic champion Wladimir Klitschko was considered as a candidate for the post of president of the International Boxing Association (AIBA). This information was presented to the members of the executive committee of AIBA at a meeting held last weekend in Dubai.
It is noted that AIBA President Ching-Kuo Wu, who was discharged from his duties, considered Klitschko's candidacy for appointment to one of the leading posts in the organization, his appointment was to be announced on October 10 this year. Also, the former world champion could later replace Wu as the president of the organization.
AIBA press release also says that the plan to nominate the 41-year-old Klitschko was considered officially. The boxer ended his career this August.
Earlier Wu was removed by the disciplinary commission of AIBA in connection with numerous violations and concealment of the real financial condition of the organization. Last Friday the executive committee of the organization approved this decision. Franco Falchinelli was appointed as an acting president of AIBA.
An extraordinary congress of AIBA, which will hold the election of the president of the organization, is scheduled for January in Dubai.
