Father and coach of world and European boxing champion Alexander Khyzhniak Sr. at a press conference after the World Cup said that together with his son they felt support during the championship in Hamburg.

"Now we have only one thing left with Alexander - to bring an Olympic medal to Ukraine. I think that it will be gold. We will work on it, we still have time, I think that we will continue to get a support. We would not have won all this with Alexander without support. Wladimir Klitschko came to our room before the finale and we had emotions on the rise immediately,” said Khyzhniak Sr.

“Before the World Cup there was a lot of talk that Alexander need to rest, stop a little, but I immediately said that we came to Hamburg only for a gold medal. After we secured the bronze, I told Alexander not to stop, he could do it, he believed in himself. This medal is not only of Alexander, but of the whole country. I was very pleased when the anthem played, the flag was raised," Khyzhniak Sr. added.
