Well-known Russian boxing commentator and analyst Vladimir Gendlin commented on the statement of Wladimir Klitschko about the end of his career.

"We are friends with Wladimir and I'm glad that he is leaving boxing because it's an endless story - to prove something to someone. He has proved everything to everyone: how many times more? Wladimir is clever, and he understands that time takes its toll. Well done, you can say a lot about the last fight with Joshua, I think the blame for the defeat is completely on Klitschko. The situation is very simple - he had not had the killer's instinct all his life. He could have done this with Povetkin, and with Joshua. But I'm not saying that if the rematch with the British was held, he would have lost. It could have gone both ways. Joshua is no better than Wladimir as a boxer. If the Ukrainian was charged with frenzy, the British would not have a chance, - said Gendlin.- Yes, Klitschko does lost. But who didn’t, who did not fall? Except for Rocky Marciano.”

“Well, why than to continue? In the world boxing nothing interesting happens now. Boxing became boring, predictable - endless insults and lawsuits. There are no new stars. With whom to prove?”

“Wladimir's health? This is probably a medical secret. In his last battle it was noticeable that he had enough energy. He did not have enough anger - that's it. But health is a very fair observation. You know how many men die at the age of 40? This is a critical age. We must really think about this.”

“How do I see Wladimir without gloves? Unlike many boxers, he is a smart person and he will find himself - in business, politics or acting," said Gendlin.
