WBC mandatory super flyweight challenger Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (42-4-1,38 KOs) scored a stunning majority decision upset over previously unbeaten WBC super flyweight champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (46-1, 38 KOs) on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Srisaket dropped Gonzalez in round one with a body shot. More problems for Chocolatito in round three when he was cut over the right eye by an unintentional headbutt. Srisaket was deducted a point after another headbutt in round six. Very hard back-and-forth battle with Gonzalez, bleeding heavily, fighting hard the whole way. Scores were 114-112, 114-112, 113-113.
