Carano: "I'm sure I would have beaten Rosey."

Former women's MMA star Gina Carano has revealed why her bout with former UFC flyweight champion Ronda Rousey never materialized.

"Dana White was inviting me to join him even before the Cyborg fight. They wanted me to be the first woman in the UFC. But I had a contract with Strikeforce. There was an option for a fight against Rosey in 2014. I needed six months to prepare. But they only had a flyweight division, and I had only gotten close to that weight twice in my career. I didn't have a gym, I needed to get back to training. I love Dana, but he started talking about a possible fight right away. And he made it hard for me.

I'm sure I would have beaten Ronda. I have a powerful punch. I know her punches are not that good. And I've knocked people out. She would have had the advantage in the clinch, but I knew how to get out of those situations. She was missing from Nunez and Holm, and I'm one of the most powerful punchers in women's MMA," Carano said on Patrick Bet-David's podcast.

Recall that Carano's last professional fight was in 2009. She has seven wins and one loss in mixed martial arts.
