Former world champion Alina Shaternikova says Vasyl Lomachenko supports Ukraine in its war against Russia, but just doesn't speak about her views publicly.
"I went with our Olympic gold medal team in 2012 on a tour of Ukraine after the Olympics. In the regions we traveled to Children's and Youth Sports Schools, to different universities, to establishments where we presented our team, made communication between our champions and the local public. The most closed always, who did not like it very much - it was Vasyl Lomachenko. It has always been, it is. He has his social circle, and the rest... He doesn't feel he has to be an influencer and broadcast everything he thinks. That's just the way he is. Whoever wants to can judge him.
I have personally interacted with him. Before he went to the press conference, we stood and waited. We talked about the war. He says the same talking points as I do, the same talking points as you do. He's saying all the same things. But at the same time, he doesn't come out just to the big stage to say it," Shaternikova said in an interview with YouTube channel Mixed Zone by Dream Bigger.
