White thrilled with Puryear's win: 'Fights like this make people legends'

UFC CEO Dana White marveled at former interim lightweight champion Dustin Porier 's early victory over Benoit Saint-Denis, the organization's former interim lightweight champion.

On March 9 at UFC 299, the American knocked out the Frenchman in the second round.

"Everyone was saying, 'This is an uncomfortable opponent for Puryear.' Then Dustin claimed he didn't sign up for the fight, and in the end ... It's fights like this that make fighters legends. Puryear went up against a guy who was tearing opponents out of his way. And not only did he come out, but he came out with an amazing comeback victory.

I've heard people say that the UFC wants some fighter to lose. No, we just determine the fights that will be more exciting. We don't determine who wins. That's why legends are born in the UFC, and legendary fights are held every week," the official said at the press conference.
