It appears that despite recent media reports, the contract between Saul Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) and Premier Boxing Champions has yet to be officially terminated. As Eddie Hearn suggests, both sides will likely eventually reach an agreement.
The head of Matchroom Boxing has been in close contact with Canelo and despite a good relationship, the Mexican is likely to honor his contract with PBC to the end. There have been rumors in the media that Alvarez will soon sign a new contract with Matchroom and streaming service DAZN.
According to Hearn, the most likely scenario at this point is a fight between Canelo and former middleweight champion Jaime Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs). The fight is tentatively scheduled for May 4 in the U.S., and would have to take place on pay-per-view.
