Burns: “Topuria knocked out three of my teammates”

Brazilian veteran of the UFC welterweight division Gilbert Burns told how the undefeated featherweight Ilia Topuria dominated his Kill Cliff FC gym while preparing for his fight with Josh Emmett.

“Ilia came to our hall and spent half of his camp here before the fight with Emmett. And he knocked out three of my teammates. Not just dropped, but completely knocked out. Wearing large gloves.

I saw him struggle. He's not the biggest or tallest guy, but he's very tough. We had a wrestling day and Topuria trained with a group of high-quality wrestlers. These were guys from Dagestan. And Elijah the guy showed that he is very strong and has good takedown defense. He transferred the Dagestani wrestler down. This guy can do it all,” Topuria told Luke Thomas.

Let us remember that in June last year, Topuria won against Emmett by unanimous decision. On February 17, the Spaniard of Georgian origin won the UFC championship belt in the up to 65.8 kg category, knocking out Alexander Volkanovski in the second round.
