Former UFC middleweight title challenger Paulo Costa told why he wants to share the octagon with the former champion of the category below Kamaru Usman.
“Kamaru should also come back after the defeat. We both need a win. I think he's already done everything he can at welterweight and it's time to move on. Usman is not that young, he is 37 or 36 years old. So it's time to move up to the middle division. Moreover, he already fought in this category against Chimaev.
Then he accepted the fight on short notice and performed for the first time in a new weight category. So our fight makes sense. Kamaru is a strong guy. He has excellent ground skills, wrestling, takedowns and striking techniques at the proper level. One of us will be at the top again,” MMA Junkie quotes Costa as saying.
Let us remind you that at the UFC 298 tournament, held on February 17 in Anaheim, USA, Costa lost by unanimous decision to Robert Whittaker.
