According to journalist Michael Coppinger, Saul Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) has reached a “mutual agreement” with Al Haymon and will not compete at his Premier Boxing Champions events this year. The parties failed to agree on the terms of the battle with Jermall Charlo, which was originally scheduled for May 4th. It is claimed that Canelo will now face Edgar Berlanga in May and Jaime Munguia, former world junior middleweight champion, in September.

Alvarez's contract with PBC, concluded last year, stipulated that the Mexican would have two more fights this year. According to Coppinger, the contract will not be fulfilled and Canelo will hold these two fights on evenings from Matchroom Boxing.

The contract between the boxer and PBC stipulated that Alvarez would receive at least $35 million for each of his performances. The Al Haymon Boxing Project tried to further challenge this condition, but ultimately the parties did not reach an agreement.
