Javier Mendez, trainer of the UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhacheva, named three suitable fights for his ward. The famous specialist wants Islam to fight with Gaethje, then have a rematch with Oliveira, and then fight for the UFC welterweight title, which is currently held by Leon Edwards.

“Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira and a welterweight title fight are the right three fights for Makhachev. I would like to see Islam become welterweight champion in 2025. I know that he himself is interested in this,” Mendez said.
