British heavyweight veteran David Price admitted that he regrets his decision to prepare for a rematch with Tony Thompson along with the legendary Lennox Lewis.
“Honestly, my biggest regret in my career is agreeing to a rematch with Tony Thompson. I also regret that I was preparing for a rematch with Lennox Lewis, because it was the worst time to invite a new person to the team who was trying to change so radically what was already working.
In the first fight, I was defeated with one blow, which hit the back of the head. The referee didn’t even open the score for me, but simply gave me the go-ahead. This was my only blemish. I went to Canada to train with Lennox Lewis. He changed everything about my training and my style. “I regret agreeing to the rematch so early,” Price said.
Let us remember that in the first fight with Thompson, Price lost by technical knockout in the second round, and in the rematch he lasted three rounds longer. Both fights took place in 2013.
