De la Hoya: "Garcia's path to becoming one of the iconic boxers of our time"

Oscar de la Hoya, head of the promotion company Golden Boy Promotions, commented on the announcement of the fight of his star client Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KO) with WBC junior welterweight champion Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KO).

The confrontation is scheduled for April 20 in Las Vegas.

“I have to make the argument that Ryan is on his way to becoming one of the iconic boxers of the modern era – he’s willing to fight anyone. Garcia fought Gervonta Davis. Afterwards, he met up with Duarte, an opponent who is no walk in the park. Now he returns to fight one of the best fighters in the world.

All this is admirable. As I said, I'm very proud of him. Ryan had a minor title. Now he has a chance to become a world champion,” The Ring quotes de la Hoya as saying.
