Tim Welch, coach of the UFC bantamweight champion Shauna O'Malley, shared his thoughts on the potential fight of his ward against a title contender in the featherweight division Ilia Topuria.
“Who doesn’t want to see this fight? This would be a cool matchup. Ilya is one of our favorite fighters. One of the most technical and trained guys, simply in his boxing. I saw them side by side, and Elijah is not that big.
Ilya is a right-hander with a wide stance, very straight, and we’ve been fighting Orthodox guys our whole career. These guys like to be met with a jab. This is just a great fight for Sean, he knocks these guys out beautifully,” Welch said on The MMA Hour.
