UFC CEO Dana White announced that the former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier (29-8) will meet Benoit St. Denis (13-1) in a five-round fight on March 9 at UFC 299 in Miami.
Poirier, 34, will try to get his career back on track after a second-round knockout loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 291 last August. At stake at the meeting was the symbolic BMF belt.
28-year-old Saint-Denis is on a streak of five wins in a row - all won ahead of schedule. The Frenchman's last performance was at UFC 299 in November, when he knocked out Matt Frevola with a spectacular head kick in the first round.
Let us remind you that the UFC 289 show will be headlined by the bantamweight title fight between Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera.
