Former holder of all belts in the first middleweight Jermell Charlo was arrested Saturday in Texas and charged with assault causing bodily injury to a family member. ESPN reports this with a link to an employee of the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.
Charlo was released after posting bail, the source said. The victim of the alleged attack has not been named. On Tuesday, records show, the boxer's wife, Chaianne Westbrook, filed for a temporary restraining order and divorce.
In May 2018, Charlo was charged with domestic violence after he allegedly choked his then-girlfriend. He was acquitted the following year when a jury found him not guilty.
Let us remind you that the American had his last fight in September, losing by a crushing decision to the absolute champion in the second middle division, Saul Alvarez.
