Former interim WBC lightweight champion Ryan Garcia reported that he gave his team a sign to begin negotiations about a fight with the holder of the WBC belt in the first welterweight division Devin Haney. Later the latter confirmed this information
āTold my team to contact Haney to discuss and organize a fight between Devin and me. The ball is in your court, Devin. āIāve made my move and Iām showing you and the boxing community that Iām ready for this fight,ā Garcia wrote in X.
A little later, Haney gave a laconic answer: āThese are the facts.ā
Let us remind you that Haney won the WBC junior welterweight title on December 9, defeating Regis Prograis by split decision. Garcia knocked out Oscar Duarte a week earlier.
