Carlos Ulberg shocked the MMA world at UFC 327 in Miami by knocking out Jiri Prochazka to capture the UFC light heavyweight title. Less than 24 hours later, though, the new champion revealed the wild twist to his celebration: he has no idea where the belt ended up.

The biggest story coming out of UFC 327 in Miami wasn’t only Carlos Ulberg’s knockout win over Jiri Prochazka — it was what happened after the cage door closed. One day after claiming the UFC light heavyweight title, the New Zealander admitted he somehow misplaced the belt during the celebration.

That’s the kind of chaos that tends to follow a major title upset, especially in a division that has spent the past few years searching for stability. With Ulberg now on top, the 205-pound class suddenly has fresh life, and the obvious questions are already forming about whether a Prochazka rematch, a Magomed Ankalaev challenge, or another top contender will be next.

Speaking to MMA Fighting, Ulberg said he no longer knows exactly where the championship belt is.

“I lost the belt, bro. I’m not exactly sure where it is,” Ulberg said with a smile.

According to Ulberg, the original plan was to celebrate the win quietly and stay away from alcohol. That plan didn’t last long.

He explained that the night started with champagne to toast the victory, then kept escalating as the drinks kept coming. Eventually, he and his group headed from the arena to an afterparty at a nightclub. Rather than carry the belt around all night, he said he left it at the apartment — and now believes it’s still somewhere there.

“At first someone brought out champagne for the win. Then one thing led to another — and next thing you know, there were shots. I was like, ‘Alright, one more, and one more, and one more...’ We had a big group of guys together, and after the arena we all went to an afterparty at a nightclub. I didn’t want to carry it with me to the club, so I left it at the apartment. It’s probably still somewhere there. Maybe one of the boys is sleeping with it right now,” the champion said.

For American fans, it’s the perfect UFC champion story: a breakout performance, a title shake-up, and an immediate dose of post-fight absurdity. The real focus now shifts to how Ulberg follows up the biggest win of his career, because finding the belt may be easier than holding onto it in the UFC’s most unpredictable division.
