Last night, doctors rendered a verdict: a planned but serious surgery is necessary on the cervical spine. According to sources close to Harrison's camp, neck problems have been bothering the athlete for several months, but now the situation has reached a point where continuing preparations and fighting without the risk of serious consequences became impossible.

In an emotional message on social media, Kayla wrote:

"It's hard. Very hard. Yesterday I was told that surgery on the neck is needed. The fight will have to be postponed. I want to apologize separately to Amanda—I was really looking forward to this fight. Thank you UFC, doctors, my team at American Top Team. Huge gratitude to my mom, who is here with my children. And to everyone who supports me."
