Top UFC heavyweight Curtis Blaydes spoke against light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira moving to his category.
"It sounds lame, to be honest. It breaks the whole division. I'd prefer there to be less of that. I think moving up makes sense only when you've cleared your division like Israel Adesanya did. Izzy took out everyone in middleweight in his time.
On the other hand, Pereira needs to hurry. He’s had several tough fights. How long has he been fighting professionally, 20 years? That's a lot of sparring, a big load. I think the UFC wants to get the most out of Pereira before his body starts to fail," Blaydes said in an interview with James Lynch.
Recall that in October Pereira regained the title in the category up to 93 kg, knocking out Magomed Ankalaev in a rematch in the first round.
