UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira spoke about the controversial stoppage of the title fight in the higher division between Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane at UFC 321.
Recall that at the end of the first round, Gane accidentally poked Aspinall in the eye, which resulted in the fight ending without a result being declared.
"We saw that things were not going Tom's way, but there have been cases when someone fails, then a penalty action occurs, and the fighter comes back stronger. Some say he was faking it. But I don't think it's right to say that. It's not easy to figure out. It seemed like one poke was deeper, but Tom didn't even react, then grabbed the other eye. But we don't know how serious it was," Pereira said in an interview with MMA Hoje.
