UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall stated that he will not fight the full title holder Jon Jones, as the latter has retired.
“Jon has retired. What are you talking about? Are you guys not following Jon on social media? This guy is living his best life. He had a fantastic career, we all know that. We know that Jon is a religious person, so I want to say: God bless him in the future, in what he does in his life and career, and we are moving on.
We are moving on. I am the absolute world heavyweight champion. I am ready to fight everyone, to get this division moving again. We have waited too long. Guys, the contenders, everyone is tired of this, even the fans. Jon has retired, and it’s time for us to move on,” said the Brit in a podcast with Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen.
Let’s remember that Aspinall has not fought since last July, when he knocked out Curtis Blaydes in the first round.
