The decorated American mixed martial arts veteran, now commentator and expert Daniel Cormier advises former UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev to work on his wrestling skills before the fight with the title holder in the welterweight division, Jack Della Maddalena.
“Islam against Jack is a great fight, especially considering how Della Maddalena defends against takedowns. Remember, Makhachev had difficulties taking down Dustin Poirier. Islam did not take him down as easily as other guys. In my opinion, Makhachev really needs to focus on improving his wrestling skills,” Cormier quotes Red Corner MMA.
Let’s remember that earlier Makhachev vacated the lightweight title for a title fight in the welterweight division against Della Maddalena.
