Topuria: "It’s a pity that Makhachev ran away"

Former UFC featherweight champion Iliya Topuria made a statement after the official announcement of UFC 317.

It was previously announced that in the main event scheduled for June 28 in Las Vegas, USA, Topuria will face Charles Oliveira. A full lightweight title will be at stake, as Islam Makhachev decided to move up to the welterweight division for a fight with the new champion Jack Della Maddalena.

"On June 28, another dream will come true. I will become the champion in the lightweight division. Charles, I apologize in advance... I am just fighting for my dream. It’s a pity that Makhachev ran away. 17-0," Topuria wrote on X.
