White commented on Topuria's desire to fight Makhachev

UFC CEO Dana White spoke about his attitude toward the promotion's featherweight champion Elijah Topuria's desire to move up to the lightweight division for a title fight with Islam Makhachev.

"This is his first defense of the championship belt. Before we start talking about moving up in weight, he needs to clean up his division. Look at Max Holloway, he moved up when he destroyed the whole division. He was the best in the featherweight division. Alex Volkanovski did the same thing. There's a lot of challenges for Elijah at featherweight," TMZ Sports quoted White as saying.

As a reminder, Topuria is scheduled to fight Max Holloway today, October 26. The fight will headline the UFC 308 tournament in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
