Lopez: "A fight with Yevloyev is not in my plans at the moment"

UFC welterweight spectacular Diego Lopez reacted to a recent challenge from Movsar Yevloyev, who offered him a rematch on Sept. 14 at the UFC 306 show in Las Vegas.

Yevloyev beat Lopez by unanimous decision last year.

"I am guaranteed a fight with an opponent from the top 5, so at the moment a fight with Yevloyev is not in my plans. If he turns out to be the last option, then we'll take that fight - no problem. But from what we've discussed with the team and the UFC, we see a completely different fight.

Now he's saying he wants to give me a rematch at Sphere and all that. That's what he wants now. It took him three months to respond to me when I challenged him and offered him a fight at International Fight Week, just this last event.

Now that he sees that I'm in a good position, he wants to take advantage of that, but we have other plans and they don't include a rematch with him. With everything we've done, I think I deserve something more than a rematch with Movsar," MMA Junkie quoted Lopez as saying.
