Makhachev revealed when he contracted the staph infection

UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev revealed at what point he contracted a staph infection before his fight with Dustin Porier.

"When I flew out of Dagestan three weeks before the fight, a small sore appeared. Apparently it got inflamed on the flight. We landed in Newark, immediately went to the hospital. The doctor said that the inflammation is severe, it may require intervention, but in the end we were prescribed antibiotics.

In the last 10 days before the fight, nothing bothered me. I made weight, did the last sparring. I won't say that it interfered, it just knocked me out a bit. Everything is normal," - quotes Makhachev MMA News.

Recall that Makhachev defeated Porier with a choke hold in the fifth round. The fight took place last weekend at the UFC 302 tournament in Newark, USA.
