UFC featherweight champion Sean O'Malley expressed confidence that lightweight titleholder Islam Makhachev deservedly holds the top spot in the promotion's top fighters rankings regardless of weight class.
"Dana White rejects Islam Makhachev as number one in the rankings of top fighters regardless of category? What does he mean by that? Islam should be number one in the top fighter rankings regardless of category. Did Dana say that right now the number one is Jon Jones? No, it's Islam," the American said in his podcast.
Recall that last weekend Makhachev made the third defense of the belt, defeating Dustin Puryear with a choke hold.
