UFC lightweight division No. 1 Arman Tsarukyan shared his impressions of the fight between division champion Islam Makhachev and Dustin Puryear.
Makhachev made his third defense of the belt at UFC 302 this past weekend, forcing Puryear to surrender in the fifth round.
"Dustin surprised me. But what surprised me more was Islam - why did he get tired so quickly and couldn't fight? We know that Islam doesn't breathe that well in five-round fights. He gives up endings. I'm wondering where he found the strength for the choke from. But I feel like Porier just took it and gave up. Morally broke down in the fifth round.
Two and a half minutes left - why are you giving up your neck? This is the most important fight of your life and you just give it away? I wouldn't give it up that easily. If he hadn't? In America, Porier would have won this fight! In America they wouldn't have given the victory to Islam," Tsarukyan said in an interview with YouTube channel Outside MMA.
