UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev has spoken about his future goals.

On June 1 at UFC 302 in Newark, USA, the Dagestani will have to make a title defense in a fight against Dustin Puryear.

"My dream is a fight for the welterweight belt against Leon Edwards. I've already given chances to the welterweight guys, now I'm waiting for my chance to fight for the second belt.

To be honest, I'm not that impressed with my division. Dustin has a one-fight win streak, Tsarukyan I've already beaten. I believe I have no work to do in the lightweight division. I've already beaten all the top lightweights, so I should be given the opportunity to fight in the second division," Makhachev told the New York Post.
